Institutes, Competitions & Deadlines 

Arts Education Institute  SAVE THE DATE:  JULY 16-20, 2012  Golden Hills Resort, Lead

Workshops offered this year are:  FIRE UP! Raku with Tom Eastburn, Black Hills Storytellers with Paul Higbee, World Grooves! Exploring Rhythms with Gloria Harrison,  Leveraging Technology with Rebecca DallaGrana and Kathy Cruse, Inspiring Creativity in the Classroom with Cory Tomovick and Krisitin Donnan Standard All participants will be required to take one morning workshop and one afternoon workshop for a total of two graduate, undergraduate or renewal credits.  Complete workshop descriptions and registration information can be accessed here.


The 12th annual Arts Education Institute offers professional development in arts and learning for all South Dakota teachers and administrators Pre-K through 12th grade.
 
The Arts Education Institute (AEI) offers an educational and fun-filled week of learning to integrate the arts into classrooms and curriculum development. This year hands-on art and music workshops offer many opportunities for all Pre-K through 12th grade educators

Kennedy Center National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute

The KC/SMI is a 4-week summer music program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, for student instrumentalists ages 15-20 who are seriously considering orchestral music as a career and willing to devote themselves to a musical education.

GOVERNOR’S AWARDS IN THE ARTS  Save the date - February 12, 2013
The Governor’s Awards are sponsored biennially by
South Dakotans for the Arts and the South Dakota Arts Council.
The Awards recognize South Dakota’s finest artists and supporters of the arts.

 Past Recipients 

SD Living Indian Treasure Award   The eighteenth annual South Dakota Living Indian Treasure Award was presented to an American Indian elder in recognition of contributions to Native American art forms. Artists eligible for the award must be living South Dakota American Indians over the age of 55. The 2011 award was presented on February 16, 2011 as part of the South Dakota Governor’s Awards in the Arts at the Ramkota River Center in Pierre.   Past Recipients
