Arts-in-Education Teacher/Artist Institute 2003
A partnership of North Dakota Council on the Arts, North Dakota Alliance for Arts Education, and Bismarck State College. June 2-5, 2003, Bismarck State College, Bismarck, North Dakota.
The primary goal of the North Dakota Summer Arts Institute 2003 is to give the classroom teacher, artist, and arts educator the tools they need to create an integrated, arts rich learning environment for students. The Institute is divided into two specific tracks:
1) Classroom teachers will be immersed in various art disciplines through work with nationally recognized artists/arts educators.
2) Artists/arts educators will learn how to more effectively structure programs and work with teachers to reach students with standards based activities. Topics for the artist track may include creative problem solving, classroom management, arts based learning tied to the curriculum, and others as determined by the Institute Instructors.
A third part of the day will be devoted to bringing classroom teachers and artists together. Participants will work in teams to develop integrated instructional units and a planning model to support future collaborations among classroom teachers and artist/arts educator.
